Boris and the Millenial Cheesecake
On Sunday we joined the great folk at C3? for a night of improv, stand up, stand-ups improvising, and improvisers standing up (improvisers trying stand up, that is… not just improvisers engaging in regular feet-based weight-bearing)! Highlights included playing alongside Ramshackle, Charm and Strange, and C3?, and the ‘everyone sings’ card getting pulled for the very first time in one of our shows!
Inspired by ‘cheese factory’ and ‘Minneapolis’, the scene was set…
Boris, a downtrodden cheesecake maker (cheesecaker?), abused and fired by the boss that ran off with his wife Sandra, sets out to make the mayor a millenial cheesecake to rival the version being made by his old cheese factory. Enlisting a troglodyte associate, they labour over a three-herbed cheesecake, only to discover a TV remote in the mix… clearly a sabotage attempt from the competition! Unperturbed, they arrive at the mayor’s office, who will taste and crown the chef of the best millennial cheesecake!
Boris’ former factory boss is deemed the winner, yet the title is quickly withdrawn when Boris outs the abusive work practices of his old boss using the TV remote to show the mayor the factory’s cctv footage. Sandra, surprised by her old-flame’s culinary prowess deliberates whether to leave the factory boss for Boris, but ultimately assesses that she’s better off alone. The troglodyte declares her love to Boris, and they embrace…
